Men naturally have a higher sex and evolutionarily speaking the male’s purpose to spread as many of his seeds as he can. So what’s wroong with infidelity and polygamy?

Well, when you think about the other person’s point of view, that person probably felt rather hurt and betrayed. You’re breaking a vow, you’re breaking that person’s heart, and you’re betraying that person’s trust. That is why infidelity and polygamy is considered wrong.
(That, and for polygamy, there are privileges such as Social Security rights given to married couples. It’d be a rather big scandal to marry as many as you can and get super rich.)

personally for me i believe one person should be with one person. if one of the people in the relationship doesn’t feel this way then they should leave and find someone who has the sames beliefs. and in a world like it is today you are better off being with one person. there are so many nasty diseases floating around like pollen on a spring day. i prefer my one man but for other people it is different. to each his own
Then, why can’t he “spread as many of his seeds as he can” with ONE person?
If you plan on cheating, DON’T get married. If your’re a polygamist, then you’re just straight up nasty.
Because the human baby takes so long to mature and become independent, the mother has to be sure that the father is around to help. The family’s resources should be spent on the family’s offspring and not squandered elsewhere. Our culture tries to ensure that. (yes it often fails but the thought is there).
I guess if you live somewhere where food and shelter is readily available for the taking year round, it is not a problem. But the males also want to know who their progeny are, which they can’t if there is just random coupling.
Hmm, good question. I’ve thought that myself…even though, as a woman, I don’t think I would want my husband to have more than one wife. I’m not an evolutionist, but for those who are, polygamy only makes sense and supports their theory, doesn’t it? Plus, it was also a biblical practice. Our country is definitely moving in the direction of legalizing gay marriage. If that happens, how could they justify keeping polygamy illegal? The same argument to legalize gay marriage should also apply to those people who choose to practice polygamy.

Infidelity, and polygamy, are wrong in my mind only because it is not equal., and a lie. Infidelity is when you lie to your spouse by sleeping with someone else, and not tell them. That is infidelity. However, if you decide to have an open marriage, where both are allowed to sleep with others, when ever you want to, that is not infidelity. It may work for some, and not for others. As for polygamy, the men who practice it do not allow their wives to do the same. If the man can have 2,3, or more wives, then why can not the wife have 2,3, or more husbands. I think if the practice, would be accepted, if the many wives of a man who they are supposively married to by God and have 1-5 children each do not use public aide. If you choose to live a certain way, do it on your own. It does not matter if you say you are married, or you are an unwed mother, their still should be a responsibility of taking care of your own. Meaning start a family with a good base. Be prepared, and ready to care for your kids you plan to bring into the world. Sure bad things happen, and we all may need to ask for help from time to time. But to go into the process knowing you will ask for help from day one, is not right. You do not have the right to expect others to pay for your standard of living. Some polygamist have a lot of kids and other tax payers end up cutting their standard of living to pay for them.
So in a some up. Infidelity, is lying, so it is wrong.
Polygamy is unequal, and taxes our public resources for them to live thier way, which cost the public their standard of living, and that is not fair to me, and others.
It isn’t considered nice to abuse women and neglect children in this country.
Male dogs spread their seed because its in their nature. It’s not the same for humans. Not to get all preachy…but if your looking at this from a religious stand point, if polygamy was meant to be….then why did God give Adam just Eve? If God was pro-polygamy then don’t you think he would have given Adam plural wives?
From a non religious stand point, its wrong because if everyone were to have plural marriages, then children would have no father figure in their life. Plus, you would have to live in a lie. You’d have to hide your life from the world since its illegal. Being a child in a polygamist family, you wouldn’t be able to have many friends. You’d basically be alone. You should watch this show on HBO called Big Love. Its about a polygamist family. Idk, its kind of interesting and is actually pretty accurate. It comes from their point of view and you see all the different kinds of situations a family like that has to go through. Its also just a hell of a show.
