Does Italy really have a high infidelity rate?

Question by Daniel: Does Italy really have a high infidelity rate?
Hi, I’m really interested in moving to Italy. However, from what I’ve read, Italy seems to have a really high infidelity rate. I don’t really buy into cultural stereotypes, but I’ve read multiple articles that state the same thing. They seem to have rather open romantic relationships in Italy. Should I be concerned about it if I move there? I’d like to hear from anyone who has lived or visited there for an extended time period.

Compared to what? The US? Ridiculous! Fidelity here is the same as everywhere else. There are people who cheat, but it is not a national characteristic. Cheating is seen as negative. Anyway, this is the first time I hear about this stereotype. So, I would not worry to much, really.

Of course not thats ridiculous! Fidelity and infidelity are pretty much the same in every country not just Italy and not highly in Italy. Clearly your only focusing on the bad points in Italy’s beautiful nature and of course your going to hear alot of stories about infidelity and bad wives/husbands no one’s going to write an article on how brilliant a marriage is going seeing as that’s what is expected in a marriage. So to answer your question you have a chance of being in a place with infidelity wherever you go.
