Why does the government want to legalize infidelity?

Question by Dude12: Why does the government want to legalize infidelity?
My friend, who is a Political Science major, just informed me that the government is planning to legalize infidelity, which will make it ok for people to cheat on their spouses. Are they crazy? Can you imagine how hurtful that can be to people? The purpose of marriage is to commit yourself to another person. Why are they now allowing people to cheat? Has the government gone mad?
Guys- I meant infidelity will no longer be grounds for divorce..
